Cecilia is a documentary editor, director and producer based in Portland, OR. In 2023, she co-directed Strong Grandma, a documentary short that has been acquired by the New Yorker, and played at festivals around the country including True/False, Doc10 and OLY House Film Festival at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In 2022 she edited and wrote Walking Two Worlds, a documentary short that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. She has had done work for HBO, Arc’teryx, The North Face, This American Life, Reveal Podcast, and has been awarded ‘Best Oregon Filmmaker’ at McMinnville Film Festival. In 2020 she graduated with a Master’s in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Oregon. She is also the co-founder of Sideyard Studios with her husband, Winslow-Crane Murdoch, co-director of A Bird with a Knife, a documentary feature that will be the focus of this application. 

Prior to documentary storytelling, Cecilia was a market research consultant for Galileo Research where she conducted hundreds of interviews for a range of brands, to better understand the lived experience of patients with challenging health conditions. In 2013 she graduated with a BA in Psychology from Connecticut College.
